Set Your Past on Fire Original Piece
There are a couple things to note before I go into the desciption of this piece. There was damage to the canvas during shipping that was partially patched, though schows cracks in the canvas. The glitter part also does not show up well in the image. This piece is on sale for the damage, and is priced higher due to the large size- 3' x 4'.
This painting comes from a special place. As a follower of God, I often find that relationship in a lot of ups and downs, constantly pursuing clarity and attempting to deepen that relationship. Recently, I was given a word over my life from a fellow believer that told me to set my past on fire and that the calling on my life was greater than I could ever imagine it being. Not long after, this painting popped into my head. But as I was busy with this business and trying to get it off the ground, I put it to the side. One day, my daily devotional said that I should spend that day glorifying God with my talents. It was a suggestion and a sign I couldn’t turn down, and this painting was born. The flames represent the burning of my past and its burdens. The footprints are those of Jesus, turning the heat into cool water while He carries me, the living water Himself. The glitter shows His form, invisible to our eye and illuminated in the glow of Heaven, His hands supporting me when I cannot support myself. And finally, the woman being carried is me, the nudity and the fig leaves representing the first sin and how they tried to conceal themselves when there is nothing we can do to conceal ourselves from God. I wasn’t sure if I should share this piece or sell it in any form. It is so personal and came from a point of healing deep inside my soul. However, these talents are not mine alone, but given to me from the Lord, and if this painting might help even one person, how could I hold that away? If you’re reading this, I hope this painting finds you where you are and helps you know that God will find and carry you when everything else is too heavy, and no matter who or where you are, He’s not done with you yet. I’ll leave you with one of my favorite blessings from the book of Numbers; May the Lord bless and keep you, may the Lord make His face to shine upon you and be gracious to you, and show you His favor.
